To all members of The Geile Zijders,

I agree with the Director (not so strange since I was the one who pointed ut this situation)
Mikkie probably should stay just for the gene's!
If Audrey is going to mate his own family who know what will come out next year, maybe chickens with 3 wings.
Maybe some people will call this evolutionaire mutation... I just call it a handicap.

I have been talking to the chickens and even they tell me they are sick of there brother/son mating them, THEY ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THIS SITUATION.
As the secretary I can only give good advice, so here it is: Keep Mikkie and sell/EAT Audrey.

Dear Honorary President,

After four days of mourning about the leave of silkie Cassim I feel strong enough again to reply to your letter of January 31st.

With much interest I read your reaction to the farewell of silkie Cassim.

However it’s completely new to me that there was a deadline of four weeks to find alternative homes for all the roosters except for Audrey .

Neither was anything of that kind mentioned in the minutes as a result of that meeting.

Therefor I don’t feel obliged at all to take any hasty decisions.

Meanwhile the chickens themselves have united and formed a small protest group to prevent the expulsion of silkie Mikkie.

They have started a demonstration in front of the run where to so happily arrived in August 2011.

Even Arnold and his wives are considering joining this committee. They fear, as temporary immigrants, they could be next on the list.

As you may know, similar democratic demonstrations in southern countries have resulted in the overthrowing of leaderships were accompanied by the deaths of innocent victims.

I don’t want anythingof this kind in my backyard.

If Mikkie were to go then Audrey would take over the leadership, including the responsibility of mating the other hens.

This means that he will mate his own mother, what he has tried already, and even his own sisters and cousinsand later nieces as well.

As a result of this, the genes in this Silky Community will be weakened considerably.

For that reason I’m considering, with much pain in my heart, to outplace Audrey in the near future, followed by September, when he starts showing macho behaviour as well.

Considering all this, I call an extra meeting on April 30th 2012 at the director’s residense at 20.30 p.m. where we could decide about the future of the Silkies.

Today I said goodbye to silkie “Cassim” after someone finally reacted to my advertisement on Marktplaats.

He had three hens and his rooster suddenly died.

Just before he left I took the pictures below for you to store in your archives of the “Geile Zijdehoenders”.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for the email and the update on Cassim.

He will be sadly missed but I am confident he will do a fantastic job of extending our gene pool to other parts of Holland.

I am glad you are making progress on taking forward the decisions made by the Committee at our meeting on 2 January 2012.

At this meeting, the Committee agreed to make a dramatic change to our breeding programme and appoint 'Audrey' as the main rooster in charge. I am sure all members will remember the passionate summing up made by Mikkie at the end of our deliberations, outlining the benefits that Audrey's genes will bring to our valued flock of birds.

To this end, the Committee at its January meeting unanimously agreed to give the Director four weeks to find alternative homes for all the roosters except for Audrey.

As this deadline has almost passed, perhaps could you provide the Board with an update on these important matters?

I would be most willing to agree to an extension to allow more time for suitable alternative accommodation to be found but I can't stress the importance of making sure that we are in a position to have Audrey in place as our main rooster by the time spring arrives and we are into our 2012 breeding season.

Keep up the great work and I look forward to hearing from you.

Geachte leden en bestuur van de vereniging "Geile Zijders''.

Vanmiddag heb ik als directeur van de vereniging GZ in m'n eentje, zonder overleg met enig stemgerechtigde, de knoop doorgehakt en de eerste van de overtollige hanen, Bert, via Marktplaats aan ene Milou overgedragen.

Woensdag heeft hij voor het eerst een poging tot kraaien gedaan en dat gaf de doorslag om naar een ander tehuis voor hem uit te kijken.

Hij gaat naar een tehuis van alleen maar hennetjes zijn en kan daar zijn mannelijkheid verder ontplooien.

Het zal een gemis voor zijn collega's en de hele omgeving zijn.

Overigens heeft de omgeving al minder geluidshinder omdat ik 2 kastjes heb omgebouwd tot geluidsdichte nachtverblijven:

Hier slapen in alle stilte de 3 logeerkippen

en dit is de stilte ruimte voor Mikkie en Cassim.

Deze laatste twee staan ook op Marktplaats aangeboden(zie advertentie) en als u als lid of bestuur ook nog iets wilt betekenen, help dan mee een goed onderkomen voor hen te vinden.
